Turks break fast with Israeli dates.

Israeli dates are used by many Turks to break their Ramadan fast.

Dates are in high demand during Ramadan because Muslims break their fast with them to follow the Prophet Muhammad.

While Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has criticized Israel's military actions, an investigative

journalist revealed that Turkey imports dates from Israel as a top product during the conflict in Gaza.

After Hamas militants killed 1,200 Israelis in an unprecedented attack on October 7, Israel began bombing Gaza. The Gaza Health Ministry reports over 30,000 deaths.

Erdoğan, known for his support of Palestinian rights and criticism of Israel, has accused Israel of being a “terrorist state” and committing “genocide” in Gaza owing to its continued attacks.

Although Erdoğan has compared Netanyahu to Hitler and praised Hamas as liberation warriors, commerce between Israel and Turkey is not decreasing.

Shipments from Turkish ports included steel, cement, and food, mostly from Turkish enterprises.
